Processing residue studies

A wide range of raw agricultural commodities are processed before they are consumed.

Testapi manages process residue studies and advises on possible processes and process products depending on the crop to test.

GLP studies on the magnitude of residues in processed commodities provide data on the transfer of residues to different processed commodities from the raw agricultural commodity (RAC). The information about dilution and concentration of residues and the estimation of processing factors (ratio of residue levels in processed commodities to those in the raw agricultural commodity) is used to:

  • Conduct refined dietary exposure assessments with primary processed products to assess consumer safety
  • Establish MRLs for processed commodities
  • Monitor compliance with the RAC MRL

Processing phases happen in between the field and analytical phases of a study. Testapi selects the processing laboratories on their ability to conduct specific (industrial or domestic) processes and on the past experience with these test sites. A wide range of various processes may be performed from cereals, vegetable, fruit, oilseed crops. Testapi will provide information on possible processes and processed products depending on the crops you wish to test.Processing phases happen in between the field and analytical phases of a study. Processing phases are not systematically necessary and depends upon the importance of a processed product in the human or animal diet, on the residue level in the harvested RAC, the physical and chemical properties of the active ingredient(s) or relevant metabolites and the theoretical expected concentration factor depending on the process type. Testapi can advise on regulatory demand depending on your needs.
