Dislogeable residue study

The use of agrochemicals may involve risk to human operators.

When PPP are applied to plants/crops it is possible that workers, bystanders and residents are exposed to chemicals.

This risk must be assessed in order for PPP to secure regulatory approval. Therefore, it is sometimes necessary to conduct human exposure studies such as Dislodgeable Residue Studies (DFR). GLP DFR studies evaluate the risk of re-entry to workers and how this risk decreases over time after the pesticide application.

TESTAPI manages studies throughout Europe, using local country offices and qualified GLP workers to set up trials in Northern and Southern EU zones

Specific equipment is required like the leaf samples (eg. foliar discs taken with a leaf punch sampler). After sampling, leaf discs are mixed with a detergent solution (provided by the analytical lab) in order to dislodge PPP residues into a solution.

In parallel: all quality measures necessary to verify stability of the residue under field conditions (field spikes), during process in the field lab, during transportation to the analytical laboratory, and frozen storage until its analysis are investigated during DFR studies.
